Newer is not automatically better. Older is not automatically better either. LessBother compares generations using stored evidence and only calls a decline when the record supports it.
THE RULE
Repair access, support life, local storage, purchase ownership, service availability, or another concrete thing has to be compared.
A primary source needs to support what the older option had and what changed later. Missing evidence stays missing.
A service shutdown can prove a historical decline without proving that one specific piece of hardware was the magical last good model.
That is why this list is intentionally small. LessBother would rather publish seven defensible comparisons than seventy nostalgia guesses.
DOCUMENTED DECLINE
These are cases where primary evidence supports a real loss of ownership, capability, access, or support over time. A decline still does not automatically prove one exact hardware revision was the last good model.
digital/online service ownership
The 3DS ecosystem lost new eShop purchasing and later most online communication services. This is a real ownership decline, but it is a service-lifecycle event rather than evidence that a specific hardware revision is the 'last good model.'
